Alan Robinson, Co-Founder & CEO
Alan established Shenick with Robert Winters and Kevin Glavin in 2000 and is responsible for day to day executive management, overseeing corporate technical and market development, investment management and strategic direction of Shenick. Alan has already led Shenick through its first period of growth successfully transitioning Shenick from a services oriented business to managing the development and delivery of the diversifEye product line.
Alan brings over 20 years experience in the telecommunications industry and has worked in management, development, systems architecture and customer facing roles.
Prior to Shenick, Alan spent four years with Euristix (subsequently acquired by Marconi/Fore Systems in 1999) joining in 1996 as a key consultant within the technical sales and marketing department. Alan was the Principal Technical Architect for Euristix Advanced Telecommunications Software Services Division. During this time Alan was responsible for the production of a large proportion of the successful proposals issued to telecommunications and advanced data networking infrastructure vendors by Euristix for a worldwide client base. Alan was also responsible for identifying new key technologies and providing technical marketing direction.
Alan has worked in senior positions in a number of Irish startup companies including Formal Systems as a Director and Synaptics in a senior engineering capacity from 1993 until 1996. While in Synaptics, Alan worked in the Military Messaging, GSM Short Messaging and Security areas. Prior to Synaptics, Alan worked for Retix, a U.S. communications software house with a development center in Dublin. In Retix, Alan worked in the Professional Services Unit (PSU), which provided custom software development services based on Retix' products. Alan was also involved in writing proposals in the PSU.
Alan graduated from Trinity College in 1989 with a degree in Computer Engineering and also holds a Higher Diploma in Management from Trinity College Dublin.
Robert Winters, Co-Founder & Chief Marketing Officer
Robert is a co-founder of Shenick and is responsible for all sales, tactical & strategic marketing initiatives plus business development activities within Shenick. Robert has played a crucial role in winning the initial contract development services and more recently establishing the first key customers and channels for Shenick's recently introduced diversifEye product.
With over 20 years experience in the technology and telecommunications sector, Robert brings a wealth of expertise in successful international sales and marketing management coupled with an engineering background focused on software and hardware systems development.
Robert returned to Ireland in 2000 having spent five years in Silicon Valley, California where he co-established Euristix' North American sales presence in San Jose during 1995 in his role as Vice President of Sales. Robert successfully increased Euristix customer base and revenue for both project oriented software development contracts and telecommunications network management products in North America and Asia Pacific markets. Euristix was acquired by Fore Systems/Marconi Communications in 1999 after which he assumed the role of strategic marketing for the Marconi ServiceON Network management product line and managed global account issues for network service providers in the US, Latin America, China, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan.
Prior to joining Euristix in 1995, Robert was responsible for North American Sales with Applied Micro Electronics (AME) based in Dublin, Ireland. AME emerged as the world leader in rotating media analysers and evaluators based on ISO/ANSI/ECMA standards for magnetic and optical media. Robert joined AME in 1990 as a Software Engineer and worked on various development projects, including lead design role and implementation of a PC based graphical spectrum analyser. Robert also worked in a Project Management role for the development and successful market introduction of a next generation disk evaluation system combining high performance bespoke test hardware development and system software.
Prior to AME, Robert spent three years working in the UK and Japan as a Software Development Engineer. Robert was awarded an overseas managerial and technical sponsorship by the Irish government in 1987 and spent two years in Japan with Uniwell Systems, a leading manufacturer of EPOS (Electronic Point of Sales) systems as a development engineer based in Osaka. He undertook development of next generation EPOS systems using embedded processor software and PC based networked systems. Robert moved to the UK in 1989 to play a key role in establishing Uniwell's European Software Development Center.
Robert graduated in 1987 with an Honours Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from the University of Dublin, Trinity College and an Honours Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT).
Kevin Glavin, Co-Founder & CTO
Kevin is a co-founder of Shenick and is responsible for the technical direction, architecture and design of Shenick products and brings a vast amount of experience and track record in delivering high quality telecom oriented solutions. Since 2000, Kevin has been instrumental in the early business of Shenick in delivering profitable and stable custom developed products to customers on a worldwide basis and since early 2002 has overseen the successful development and deployment of the Shenick diversifEye product.
Kevin is based in Silicon Valley, California and has spent 20 years in the telecommunications industry operating in a variety of roles spanning from pure software development and development management to more customer centric roles involving product evangelism and business development. Kevin spent seven years working with Euristix, he was a key member of the team that established U.S. presence in San Jose, California, as General Manager. Within the Silicon Valley environment, Kevin has worked with and contributed to the success of a number of local startup companies. Prior to Euristix, Kevin worked with Motorola in its Cellular Infrastructure Division, as a software developer in switch software and solutions architecture.
Kevin graduated from the University of Limerick in 1989 with a degree in Electronic Engineering specialising in Telecommunications Systems.
